Sited along the banks of the river Periyar, the project as visualized by the client was a compact,
well interactive dwelling adding an essence of contemporaneity throughout along with a natural uninterrupted
flow of air and light round the hours.
The idea inculcated was to bring about an altered perception to the stereotypeof a typical
house and to erect a dwelling based on contextual conditioning which merges into the
dense residential mass and also exists as a unique entity itself to redefine surrounding characteristics.
The southern and eastern faces of the plot were exposed, experiencing a lack of privacy
and hence the approach of visual cut off is used to ensure privacy and security. These
facades are furnished with partially louvered blank walls running the height of the building.
The instillation of disposed transparent bottle scrap is an added design feature improving
aestheticity of the wall and the ambience is kept alive throughout with the play of light.
The continuous air movement compensates for the obstruction to sight by maintaining connection
with exterior. The northern and western faces mainly focus on openness and visual
transparency by incorporatinglarge openings and glass facades to maintain the interior-exterior link.
